The field of Iranistics has long been known in the world under the title of "Iranian Studies" or "Oriental Studies", the purpose of which was familiarity with different aspects of Iranian culture and civilization from ancient times until now. Covering all of these subjects in a few semesters and through some credits is not feasible. Nevertheless, efforts must be made to introduce different aspects of this ancient culture and civilization to Iran and to the world.

Efforts for the establishment of the field of Iranistics started in 2016-2017 with the endeavors of Dr. Gholami who was then the chancellor of the university. Finally in 2018, following the efforts of Dr. Mohammadifar, the current chancellor of the university, the department started admitting students.
