The Department of English Language offered general or specific courses to other departments and faculties of the university under the title of Department of Foreign Languages since the establishment of the university until 2004. In 2004, after the separation of this department from the departments of Linguistics and French Language and beginning of admission of students in the field of English Translation at B.A level, the department engaged in training English translators at B.A level in addition to offering courses to other faculties. This trend continued until 2011 when the subfield of Teaching English Language was established at M.A level and this department started training students at M.A level with 5 assistant professors. In 2012, with the admission of 2 PhD. students in the subfield of Teaching, the development process of higher education of the department was completed. Currently this department trains 192 B.A students, 24 M.A students and 6 PhD. students with 2 associate professors and 4 assistant professors. The only retired faculty member of this department is Dr. Gholamreza Kohansali, who was retired in 2010. It must be borne in mind that currently the Department of English Language widely cooperates with other departments and faculties of the university in offering general and specific courses with the cooperation of nearly 20 visiting professors.
