The Department of Arabic Language and Literature was established in 1996 and started its activities in September of the same year with two faculty members and by admitting students at B.A level. This department continued its development and qualitative and quantitative growth by recruiting potent and lively faculty members. It is one of the most important and well-known departments of the country in the field of Arabic Language and Literature and has a brilliant history in education and research. This department has set the stage for admission of students in different subfields at M.A level by completing faculty members and equipping the library with specialized scientific books and supplying various educational CDs. Thus, in 2004 M.A students and in 2009 PhD. students were admitted in the subfield of Arabic Language and Literature. Also in 2011, subfield of Arabic Translation was established at M.A level to familiarize those interested with the scientific methods of translation and expand scientific, cultural and economic interaction with the Arab countries.

Currently, the head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature is Dr. Naser Ghareh Khani and the employee handling department's affair is Ms. Masoume Saki.
