Islamic Studies


Department of Islamic Studies was established in 1999 and offers courses at B.A level to the whole university. Department of Islamic Studies offers courses on Islamic Thought (I and II), Thematic Exegesis of Quran and Nahj-al-Balagha, Islamic Ethics and Philosophy of Ethics, Islamic Revolution and Introduction to the Constitution, History of Early Islam and History of Islamic Civilization, Science of Family, and Introduction to the Values of the Holy Defense. Thus, the total number of the credits that are offered by the department during each semester at B.A level is approximately 240 credits which constitute more than 10 percent of the 136 credits that are to be passed ta B.A level. Also, the fields of Teaching Islamic Studies and the field of History of Islamic Revolution are offered at M.A and PhD. level respectively.

Note:

  1. From the total of the five subfields, 12 out of the 32 credits are obligatory at B.A level.
  2. a) Students can choose 4 credits out of the 8 credits offered in the subfield of Theoretical Foundations of Islam.

b) Students can choose 2 credits out of the 8 credits offered in the subfield of Islamic Ethics.

c) Students can choose 2 credits out of the 6 credits offered in the subfield of Islamic Revolution.

d) Students can choose 2 credits out of the 6 credits offered in the subfield of Islamic History and Civilization.

e) Students can choose 2 credits out of the 4 credits offered in the subfield of Introduction to Islamic References.

It must be noted that students who have been admitted after 2013 must pass the course on Science of Family (2 credits), which has replaced the course on Family Planning (1 credit).

The course on Introduction to the Values of the Holy Defense is a 2-credits optional course and the obtained grade will be included in the mean grade of the student.
